As any other, family holiday or family type of travelling is designated for specific group of people travelling or wanting to spend their vacation somewhere – surprisingly, it is a family. Family holiday is the time of the year when parents want to take their time of of all duties waiting for them at home and relax for a while, in order to breathe a little and recharge those much needed batteries.
Family holiday are typically considered as a recreation time spent or taken together with the family. The purpose of this holiday is, as mentioned above, the relaxation with family members as well as unifying the entire family and tightening the relationships between its members.
It can be either a ritual event – for example each year at a certain month or period of the year (for instance some families have their favourite summer beach side destinations or a mountain resort they annually go to), or it could also be a spontaneous and one-time event. It is not the exception that some families prefer to keep the budget low and tend to chose the lower cost options such as staying in a caravan, renting an apartment with own cooking possibilities and such.

One of the options is also the so called “staycation“, where the family actually stays within their own walls and only undertakes several trips during the day (such as museum visit, spending day at the beach or a pool, seeing a show or similar).
Family holiday does not necessarily have to be a luxurious and lazy vacation time. Many families chose to travel to exotic places and destinations with their kids together, to broaden their horizons and provide them with experience since they are little. Those trips usually include special activities perfect for children and a certain level of comfort.
It is usually also preferred to spend as little time as possible transferring from a place to place, in order to keep the kids safe and protect their health.
Although, the typical way of spending a family holiday is usually at a sea resort or a lake, camping or, visiting an amusement park or smaller hiking trips are also common.
