The Mount Apo is considered a national park with one of the highest bio-diversity forests in the Philippines. It was declared by former president Manuel L. Quezon because it’s the living area of over 272 bird species, but the other species is strictly prohibited in this area.
The Philippine Eagle is also living on this mountain. It is the National Bird of the country. The mountain is the best climbing destinations because of its highest peak that attracts tourists.
The place is surrounded by a beautiful lake and the place is a mossy tropical forest including exotic fauna and flora. There is also a flowing river and waterfalls at the mountain.
The most awesome views of the mountain are the Paprikaoptic and the Geoffmaterna which are surrounded by pine trees. The mountain also composes three hot spring at the foot of Mount Apo such as the Mainit Hot Spring, the Mundo Apo Hotspring and the Agco Hot Spring where you can relax. There is also a jacuzzi, a small waterfall and a sulfur lake.
There are 3 trails to reach the summit of Mount Apo such as the Ko-Ong Kidapawan trail in the north; Cotabato is the most used trail – it is a bit far, approximately 19km. This trail offers jungle trail and river trail so this is a bit challenging. The Sibulan-Mt. Apo peak trail is in st. Cruz Davao Del Sur.
You will pass the jungle, boulder and farm trail which you will start at the small village of Baruring, Sibulan before you reach the summit with a distance of 13.7km.
This is the most interesting and technical trail because of different species of flora and fauna. The longest and toughest trail going to the summit is Tamayong trail that makes the climbers pass the Mountain Talomo Peak Would you dare to climb the Philippines highest peak?
