Austria Is a smaller, landlocked country, located in the Central Europe. The neighbouring countries are Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland and finally, Liechtenstein. What makes Austria well known and tourist-popular are definitely The Alps, covering most of the terrain.

The Republic of Austria cover an area of more than 83 000 square kilometres and the population reaches 8,7 million people, having German as official language (although, many local dialects can be found within the country, sometimes harder to understand from part to part).

The capital of Austria is the charming city of Vienna, which is also the largest and most famous city – being home for more than 1.7 million people, a quarter of the overall population.

Another large cities are for instance Graz, Linz, Innsbruck or Salzburg. Austria has a high living standard and is considered one of the richest countries in the world. It is a member of European Union and also founder of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development).

Austrian beauty doesn’t hide at all, but quite the opposite. You will probably fall in love instantly while laying your eyes on the jaw-dropping landscape created by high mountain peaks, the purest water of mountain lakes, fresh green forests, rugged alpine meadows and valleys or wild and deep rivers.

The Alps are simply beautiful and the views are spectacular. On the top, they serve as a perfect holiday destination not only for hikers during warmer months, but especially for outdoor and winter sport lovers during snowy season.

Apart from the Alps, Austria is a great highlight for culture lovers. With great food, cosy coffee atmosphere and pleasant wine experience, the high Austrian culture is a famous attraction.
