GARUDA WISNU KENCANA: is a modern cultural park that aims to educate future generations on how to cultivate and preserve cultural heritage.
In the highest place of Southern Bali lies the Garuda Wisnu Kencana or the GWK cultural park. The historical park is still under construction and aim to be one of the world’s biggest and highest monumental statues in the world.
This cultural park is being built not just to promote tourism but to revive the art, cultural and spiritual aspect of the island.

The gigantic statue of Vishnu mounting Garuda will be one of the world’s tallest statues in the world erected on the top of the hill with Bali as its panorama. Vishnu is the central God and is believed to be the preserver and the Lord of the universe.
Garuda which in many illustrations appeared to be a bird-like being with the physique of a human have a more stylistic approach and depicts as a Javanese eagle in Indonesia.
The sculpture is a 145 metres high statue of Vishnu mounting Garuda.
Nyorman Warta, a renowned sculptor in Indonesia was entrusted to assemble the sculpture. Currently it is from 25 % completed with the upper part body of Vishnu, the head of Garuda and the hands of Vishnu. It is an attraction for both local and foreign visitors visiting Bali.
Tourists start to crowd to GWK although it is not yet completely finished. Some of the attractions are: Tirta Agung which welcomes the tourist where the hands of Wisnu are located; the lotus pond which is the largest and main venue beside the GWK – it is surrounded by land art of limestone pillar with Garuda as the background; a place that can hold up to 7,500 people for music concerts, international gatherings, events and big parties.
Wisnu Plaza is where the traditional Balinese dance is being held on a particular time with the majestic statue of Vishnu as the background.

The amphitheatre is a spacious outdoor stage that can hold the audiences of 800 which is purposely built for professional artists to showcase their theatrical art.

The park is open from 08:00 to 22:00 located on Jalan Raya Uluwatu, Kabupaten Badung. It will only take you 10 minutes’ drive from Ngurah Rai airport.
